Lady Africa tented camp in Mokopane
Approx Cost: R850 per tent per night
We rode from Johannesburg through to Mokopane on Friday afternoon at around 12 in the afternoon. It was hot and the weather bureau depicted a heat wave for this weekend. Well let me tell you, it was a scorcher today with that bikers jacket and helmet on. It took us just over 3 hours to get to Lady Africa and as soon as we arrived we could not wait to take the gear off and jump into our little splash pool next to the tent.
This was refreshing and just what we needed after a long hot ride. But I had something else up my sleeve and needed to get Heather out of the pool and out for a walk to give Frikkie a chance to set up the Romantic room for us, which comes at an extra cost but well worth it. When we arrived back from our walk the tent was transformed with red chivon ribbon, candles and a bottle of bubbly waiting for us. They even put candles around the outside bath for us in case we wanted to take a bath after our walk.
I started up the fire in our miniature Webber for our chops, sausage and chicken sosatie braai. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature all around us except the sound of a bull frog down by the river and the sound of birds all around us.
The night seem to creep up on us and soon it was dark with the sound of crickets, bugs and other nightlife coming out. We sat chatting outside on the small stoep until supper was ready. We then moved over to the small kitchenette to have supper at the table and chair.
This was the end of our first day at Lady Africa. Beautiful, peaceful, private and just what we needed. We still got the whole weekend to unwind and relax.
3 tent options are available:
8 x Bush tent, 4 x Safari tent ( what we went for) and 1 Honeymoon tent.
